Note before interview

To be honest Work at a Pizza Place on ROBLOX is a game I actually enjoy watching Mollyjp play. It’s funny watching her get frustrated while she sees someone else slacking off on their job. She gets quite outraged! I also have to admit that on one occasion when there was no active manager she abandoned her post of packing the pizzas into boxes as she realised that they were short on supplies. Grabbing the truck keys she nobly popped off to grab the ingredients needed for the Pizza Place to keep making pizza. Sadly while out doing that, burning with righteous indignation the truck rolled off and ended up in some large expanse of water!

Unlike real work, she was able to retreive it, pass off the soaked supplies as good and get back to work all dry with nobody any the wiser that she had been 8 foot deep in water. Just after that she got her pay cheque and went and played in her Pizza Place Home.

At which point I became envious of her exciting job!

Anyway on with the interview.

This is a hugely popular game, with the least bad thumbs. Why do you think that is?

Because it is a supported game, this means it has a bit of help from ROBLOX. It also gets real world advertising. You may find a Pizza Place figure in your local supermarket. This will raise it’s profile and the amount of funding that can be put towards development.

I like it because it’s fun, you get a break and you get paid. It’s quite an involved game and varied in the roles you can take.

What is the most frustrating thing about playing the game?

The most frustrating thing is that the cars don’t have hand brakes. This means if you are delivering at the top of a sloping road you will need to chase your car. Of course as you pointed out the truck has a similar problem but err *cough* I MAY have left the engine on, on the occasion it drove itself into the sea.

Other players can be really frustrating. If you are packing pizza and a colleague comes and shuts the pizza boxes before you put pizza in, you cannot open them again. Do they have glue on? Anyway you have to throw then away and you are left feeling not so kindly towards your team members.

Do you think you act in this game like you would in a real job?

I play this in a the way I would like to do a job. I want to please my manager, get a bonus, be paid well and see the team working well together.

Have you earned any badges?

Yes. Delivery, Cook, Boxer. I can’t be far off getting the cashier one.

What is your Pizza Place home like?

Small at the moment, but I’ll be extending soon.

Do you think working in a real Pizza place would be as good fun?

I think delivery could be quite fun, if you got a car with hand brakes! Don’t think I would enjoy being a cashier that much,

Do you ever try and chat up the customers?

I sometimes say Hi! but I don’t say “I love you” because pizza customers get a bit hostile when you do that!

What happens if you keep being good at your job?

If the manager retires while you are employee of the day and the rest of the team like you, you can become manager.

What happens if you keep being bad at your job?

Nobody likes you and they can put in complaints and raise a vote to get you kicked out.

Does this game make you laugh?

Sometimes, but I think you laugh more watching me. It can be funny if people come round to your house while you are on a break.

The description states this is a group project, does this show in the game?

Yes because it’s infrastucture is huge and it would take years for one person to do it. I’d not really thoght about it, but it does make sense that this is a group project. I’m not sure if that has also infuenced the good range of rides in the park.

Can you eat a lot of ice cream, ride the rides and make your avatar throw up?

NO! You can get ice cream, you can’t eat it, it is more of a shmearing experience, and avatars don’t hurl.

Which is your favourite ride?

A ride called Speed is my favourite. You start off with a series of bends and a high ramp, followed by a sudden drop. After a straight run the ride flips you over really quick. I thinks its a double flip. It’s a lot of fun. Some other sharp turns on it are good too.

Name your top 3 favourite things about the game?

The variety of rides is great.

The shops and the park area that are on the welcome strip are really pleasant and it’s nice to be able to dress up to go on the rides,

The way you can interact with other players is great and others have reccomended rides to me within the game. Friendly bunch.

If these rides existed in real life would you go on them?

Not all of them. I would definately not go on the one that goes upsidedown – in fact I’m scared to go on it in the game.

If these rides existed in real life do you think your Mum would let you go on them?

NO!

Yes a lot, my favourite was golden choc chip.

Is it a colourful game?

Yes it is colourful and I like that.

It’s genre is comedy, what has made you laugh?

The action that the noob does are pretty funny, some noisy bodily functions and you can shove hats on him/her from the control noob.

Have you earned game dollars and spent them in the game?

Yes. I earned $100 in game and I bought a pet floating pig. There is a lot you can buy with plenty of variety.

What is the giant noob like?

The noob is giant, bigger than me. They tend to just sit there, eat cake and has a really long tongue. As a said befoe they also burp.

What is it about the game that would make you come back and play again?

You can go in the machine and become a cake. You have a recipe book and there is a lot of variety of cakes.

You are a builder and learning to create Roblox games, was there anything clever about this game that you would like to apply in one of your own?

The teleportation features are pretty cool.

Can you wear your own clothes?

Yes, I am not forced to wear an in game uniform.

What is a mini obby?

A mini obby is a little challenge within a game and it was quite entertaining, not fantastic but quite fun.
